ActivityPub/Fediverse Integration#336

ActivityPub is the protocol used in the “Fediverse”, ie. the underlying architecture for services like mastodon, pixelfed, and bookwyrm.social. Having at least one-sided ActivityPub-Integration would allow those services to directly interact with userposts. For example, people on mastodon or pixelfed could follow a user on literal.club, any new book-updates would be shown in their timelines, and they could reply (comment) on those.

this is a major change for the underlying architecture for sure, but will enable literal.club to grow together with the other federated services that are currently gaining a lot of traction, profiting from an increased visiblity and usefulness of the service.

-1 from me. Would be a huge architectural change in the underlying backend, with little to no benefits.

However, it is an interesting idea for other AP users to keep up with Literal users. If somebody created a self hostable FOSS mastodon bot that used Literal’s API to automatically toot book updates and reviews and such, it would be great without requiring the attention of Literal’s devs. Obviously adoption will be limited since not everybody will want to host a mastodon bot, but it’s interesting.
